Reported symptoms
- Infotainment screen freezes, reboots unexpectedly, or becomes unresponsive during driving
- DC fast charging session refuses to initiate, terminates early, or sustains charge rate well below specification (Silverado EV supports up to 350 kW on 800V architecture)
- Multi-Flex midgate fails to operate, latch correctly, or seal against weather
- Four-wheel steering inactive, intermittent, or behaving inconsistently
- Wide Open Watts (performance) mode fails to engage or behaves inconsistently
- Backup camera, surround-view camera, or trailer camera image fails to display or appears distorted
Questions to ask
- How many open recall and software campaigns currently apply to VIN [VIN], including any cross-platform Ultium campaigns?
- If the issue involves the Multi-Flex midgate, four-wheel steering, or Wide Open Watts mode, is the diagnostic procedure specific to those features?
- Will all open campaigns be addressed in a single visit, or are sequential visits required?
Documents to request
- Repair order with technician notes, including a list of every recall and campaign reference number addressed during the visit
- Written confirmation of software versions installed before and after the visit on each affected module
- Documentation of any feature-specific procedures applied (Multi-Flex midgate, four-wheel steering, Wide Open Watts)
Pre-service evidence
- Screenshot or video-record any infotainment, display, midgate, or driver-assist defects at the time they occur
- Note specific incidents — system reboots, charging failures, midgate cycling, ambient and load conditions — with dates
- If the vehicle is used for towing, note towing conditions and any related defect modes (range under load, charging behavior with trailer)
Service advisor interaction
- Record the full name of the service advisor and the technician performing the work
- Multi-campaign software situations are particularly susceptible to incomplete documentation. A general 'software updated' note without enumerated campaign references creates ambiguity about which specific campaigns are closed.
- Silverado EV-specific features (Multi-Flex midgate, four-wheel steering, Wide Open Watts) require specialized diagnostic procedures. Generic Silverado service procedures developed for ICE Silverados may not apply to the EV variant.
- Fleet vehicles can have service interactions that span multiple authorized drivers and multiple service centers. Documentation discipline is operationally important — verify each visit's record is correctly associated with the vehicle and ownership account
Repair authorization
- Recall and software campaign work is performed at no charge to the owner; do not authorize any charge for parts or labor associated with these campaigns
- If a diagnostic fee is presented for issues the dealer characterizes as unrelated to the open campaigns, request written documentation distinguishing campaign-related and unrelated faults before authorization
- If high-voltage component replacement is quoted, request written warranty classification before signing the repair authorization
- Repair authorization signatures often include language permitting additional related work — read the document and decline blanket additional work in advance
Post-service verification
- Verify the infotainment system functions normally without unexpected freezes or reboots during a short test drive
- Conduct a verified DC fast charging session at an 800V-capable CCS fast charger before traveling more than a short distance from the dealership
- Test Multi-Flex midgate cycling and sealing under representative conditions
- Test four-wheel steering at low-speed maneuvering and high-speed cornering, if relevant to the service
- Verify all camera systems display correctly under normal conditions
- Confirm the repair order matches the work performed and references the correct campaigns

Warranty notes
- Chevrolet has issued recalls and service campaigns affecting the Silverado EV during the early production period, including cross-platform Ultium campaigns. The applicable campaigns for VIN [VIN] should be checked at every service visit.
- Silverado EV components are covered under Chevrolet's New Vehicle Limited Warranty and the high-voltage battery component warranty (8 years / 100,000 miles in most US markets). Coverage period and conditions should be confirmed in writing.
- Multi-Flex midgate, four-wheel steering, and Wide Open Watts components are covered under the basic warranty during the warranty period; warranty determination for these distinctive components should be confirmed in writing on a per-component basis.
- Recall remedies are performed at no charge to the owner regardless of vehicle age, mileage, or warranty status.
Observational patterns
The Silverado EV is built on GM's Ultium platform, sharing architecture with multiple Ultium vehicles across Chevrolet, GMC, Cadillac, Honda, and Acura brands. Cross-platform campaign coverage is operationally relevant — campaigns issued under any brand may apply to the Silverado EV depending on the specific defect.
Distinctive Silverado EV features (Multi-Flex midgate, four-wheel steering, Wide Open Watts, 800V architecture) introduce diagnostic complexity beyond what is typical for ICE Silverado service. Technicians experienced with traditional Silverado may have limited familiarity with the EV-specific subsystems.
Work-truck and fleet positioning produces service patterns distinct from recreational EV pickups: longer service intervals, fleet-managed scheduling, multiple-driver use, and trailer-towing service contexts. Documentation discipline is operationally relevant under these conditions.
OTA delivery does not always produce a corresponding entry in the dealer-side service record. The closure of a recall delivered over the air requires explicit documentation through the dealer system.
