What P0AA6 means

This SAE code flags a high-voltage isolation fault: the insulation resistance between the high-voltage system and the vehicle chassis has dropped below its safety threshold somewhere — in the pack, cabling, motor, compressor, or heater circuits. It is safety-relevant because loss of isolation is a precondition for shock hazard and, in some documented defect patterns, thermal events. Many vehicles disable charging or high-voltage operation when it sets.

Key diagnostic distinction: The code tells you isolation is lost, not where. Competent diagnosis isolates the faulting subsystem (battery pack vs. coolant heater vs. compressor vs. cabling) before parts are quoted — and the answer changes both the bill and the warranty position dramatically. A pack-internal isolation fault on a vehicle inside its battery warranty should not be a customer-pay repair.
